Garden Plot Fee: Plots are valued at $75. In order to make the garden accessible to all we have a sliding scale of $25-$75 per individual plot. (Permaculture plots are $25.) You can choose the amount appropriate for your situation.Please only send in a check if you already have a plot. Thank you!

The Garden is being created by volunteer efforts. Each plot must volunteer an average of four hours a month or 16 hours over the gardening season to help the garden improve. Please check how you & your plot mates would like to volunteer:

Garden Committees - Work with other gardeners to help keep the garden healthy and growing.

Membership – The membership committee will advertise and assign new plots, host membership events such as orientation, workdays, and potlucks, and try to help members where you can. You will be helping bring us together as a community. Skills that help are people skills, event planning, organizing, etc..
Maintenance – The maintenance committee will be responsible for ensuring the garden and gardeners have what’s needed for a bountiful season, such as compost, water, good pathways, tools, etc. Also, planning special building projects such as the labyrinth, or orchard. Skills that will help are attention to detail, interest in planning, excitement about composting, excitement about building, etc.
Events & Outreach – This committee will be responsible for showing the garden to the greater Golden community through volunteer workdays such as inviting the Whole Foods team to come help at the garden, working with schools, such as the Connections Learning Center, as well as community events, such as a summer celebration, or fall pumpkin patch party. Skills that will help are event organizing, and good people skills.
Education – This committee will setup classes to help get new gardeners ready to be successful and keep experienced gardeners educated on new and best practices. Many educational resources exist, from experts in the community garden to CSU extension master gardeners, as well as many others in our community. Skills that will help are curiosity, interest in learning & teaching, and scheduling.
Finance - This committee will keep our budget, track plot fees and expenses and work with our accountant (currently Denver Urban Gardens) to manage garden money. The committee may also help get grants or donations. Skills that help are being good with numbers, money, and budgeting. Grant writing skills would be an additional bonus.

Non Committee help - If you think your skills lie more in areas other than planning, maybe one of these would suit you:

Garden work days - Helping here will mean attending some of the work days at the garden to maintain pathways, pull weeds, spread mulch, cleanup the shed, and other things to keep the garden growing and looking good. Skills that help are ability to rake, shovel, pull weeds, etc. Carpentry or irrigation experience is a plus.
Individual contribution - For those who find it difficult to find time, this would allow you to work on your own when at the garden, pulling weeds, cleaning the shed, or coordinating your own garden beautification project with the maintenance committee. Being the garden composter could be another individual task.
Other - Please suggest other ways you could help the garden. PR photography or article writing, a roving helper for the various committees, a gardener mentor, or something else.

The mission of the Golden Community Garden is to enable members of Golden's community to work together to organically grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers for our families, and our community. The Garden will also be a green space where all of Golden’s citizens and visitors can enjoy nature’s beauty and engage in meaningful conversation and education.
